Frequently asked questions
What is the 3-2-1 backup rule?
Keep at least 3 copies of data, on 2 different media types, with 1 copy off-site. It is a widely used principle to reduce data-loss risk, especially against ransomware.
How is backup different from replication?
Backup keeps multiple versions over time so you can roll back. Replication keeps a near real-time copy elsewhere for quick failover. They complement each other rather than replace each other.
How do we know a backup will work when needed?
Run restore tests regularly. NAK can help build a restore-testing process and schedule with you.
